Coco's Outback
Wednesday, the 27th of August

Feeling a bit blue about the introduction being over? Reunite with your coaches and your new friends at the weekly ISN ''Borrel'' at Coco's Outback! Have you heard of the word ''Borrel''? Well, it's hard to find an equivalent definition in English. It has something to do with having drinks with a lot of people and having a great time (for a more extended explanation, look here). This year's first ISN borrel is on Wednesday the 27th of August. This is the link to the Facebook event. PROOST!

Scavenger hunt: de Wallen
Wednesday, the 27th of August
Dam Square

Join us for the first event of the year; a scavenger hunt on ''de Wallen''. De Wallen is the Dutch term for the Red Light District. Surely, this interesting area of the city must have been mentioned by people back home when you told them about the location of your exchange. You probably formed some ideas of what this place would be like. Now is your chance to discover what the ''red'' part of Amsterdam is really all about, while accomplishing tasks of our Scavenger Hunt. The team which accomplishes the most Scavanger Hunt tasks, wins a prize. A ticket costs €11 and includes: participation in the Scavenger Hunt, drinks and goodies and a visit to the Weed Museum. You can get your ticket online or at the ISN office. Please note that you need an ISN Card in order to participate (buy one at the office or at the event). You can also find this event on Facebook. Let the games begin!

Bike tour: Dutch country side
Saturday, the 30th of August

As you might have picked up on by now, cycling is a big part of the Dutch culture and lifestyle (interested in how cycling got integrated into the Dutch culture? Read here). So if you want to live like a local, you need to get comfortable with cycling. Therefore, ISN offers a bike tour to the country side along cheeky little houses and some famous windmills. Meet us at 11:30 at Crea and get some cycling practice while enjoying the beautiful, and slightly flat, Dutch country side. This event is free and BYOB (Bring Your Own Bike).

When you've been to Museumplein, you might have noticed the big Iamsterdam logo in front of the Rijksmuseum. Their website and facebook page offer a lot of information about what is going on in this lively city, so check it out! (it's in English, in case you're worrying)
