Discover Holland Weekend
Schiermonnikoog, Groningen & Giethoorn
Friday the 12th of September till Sunday the 14th of September
Victoria Hotel, Damrak 1-5
Discover Holland Weekend is coming up! In this event, we'll show you a relatively big (it's a small country anyways) part of the Netherlands in three days. During this trip, we'll discover the Northeastern area of Schiermonnikoog, Groningen & Giethoorn. Schiermonnikoog is the municipality with the smallest population in the Netherlands. This means that there's lots of natural beauty for us to enjoy, such as beaches, forests and dunes (the government even labeled the area as a ''national park''). Next up, we'll head over to a completely different setting; Groningen, which is an authentic city filled with historical sights and student (night)life. Finally, we will visit ''The Venice of the Netherlands'' Giethoorn and relax during a boat trip. Learn more about Giethoorn in this interesting BBC special. A ticket for this event costs €100 and includes transportation, accommodation, food and activities. Get a ticket at our office and check out the Facebook event here.

Lecture about Dutch Culture
Tuesday the 9th of September
Oudemanhuispoort D.108
Are you still experiencing a bit of a culture shock? Or are you simply interested in learning more about the Dutch Culture? In any case, visit the lecture of Sander Schroevers about cultural patterns explaining odd Dutch behaviors. The lecture is free and Dutch snacks will be provided during the break! Make sure you're on time, the doors will be closing when the lecture hall is full.

YES-trips Oktoberfest
The 26th of September (18:30) till the 29th of September (7:00)
(Oktoberfest starts early this year)

In cooperation with YES-trips, we offer you a trip to Munich where you'll get the opportunity to enjoy the traditional German ''Oktoberfest''. This annual events entails traditional German clothing, lots of people, lots of fun and even more beer (6.7 million liters were consumed last year according to this article). Get your ticket for the biggest beer festival in the world at our office. If you're interested in what more to expect, visit the Facebook event.

Student of the week
Our second student of the week hails from Sweden, a land of cold winters and warm people. Fabian Rost is a shining example of the latter. However, there is more than just a warm smile to this young man: during our introweek he created a beautiful album, edited it to perfection and uploaded it on Facebook, which couldn’t help but come to ISN’s attention. Though he fell sick this week and had to miss the Borrel, he faithfully participated in the Dutch Culture Pubquiz. Get well soon Fabian, and see you at Coco’s!

Exchange party: Opening Party
Saturday, the 20th of September
The Exchange Party is the biggest international student party in Amsterdam, since the UvA, HvA, VU and InHolland are all participating. There will be multiple Exchange Parties this semester, and we'll kick off the new year with the Opening Party at Panama on the 20th of September. Get your ticket online or at our office for only €9!

Wednesday the 10th of September

Coco's Outback
What more to explain? The first two Borrels ended up very 'gezellig' and slightly crazy.  We would like to pursue this tradition, so join us for the third edition this Wednesday! You can find the
photos of the previous borrel on Facebook.

Usually, you need an ESN card in order to participate our events. All of you were so enthusiastic this semester that we actually sold out in two weeks. We are expecting new ESN cards this week, in order for everyone to be able to get one and join our activities. Until then, you won't need an ESN card to participate at our activities or to enter the Borrel.

Our office will be closed on Friday the 12th of September because our lucky board members will all be Discovering Holland for the Weekend. So if you need to buy tickets or if you have questions, please visit the office at Monday, Wednesday or next week.
