Coaches
ISN Coach System
The International Student Network Amsterdam has set up a network of student coaches to stimulate the integration of international students in Dutch student life. Dutch students from various faculties volunteer to become a coach because they are interested in meeting foreign students and willing to show them around. A student coach will guide a group of internationals during the introduction, to show them around at the UvA and HvA and can help the students getting settled in Amsterdam.
Become a Coach
As a coach you will be guiding newly arrived international students around Amsterdam during the introduction days. Together with a co-coach you will be the first point of reference for a group of 20 students. We are looking for reliable, hard working people who are interested in showing internationals around in their city. Both Dutch and international students who have been studying in Amsterdam for over half a year are welcome to apply.
Introduction August 2010: You have to be available from the 24th until the 27th, for the whole day. The 23th of August you will have to attend a training day where you will meet your fellow coaches and get instructions. You will have free access to all the activities. Apply before the 1st of June.
Send an email with your motivation and resumé to info@isn-amsterdam.nl
International students that want to have a coach
Once you've signed up for the ISN introduction on our website, you will automatically be assigned a coach. If you are not able to attend the introduction, you will also not get a coach, since the system only applies for the introduction days. As soon as the different coach groups are selected, we will send you your coach's name and details, and your coach will also receive your personal information. This will be at the beginning of August. It is then up to you to contact each other! If you want to be met on arrival, it is up to you to arrange this with your coach. Please send your coach the exact time and date of arrival (and flight information) as soon as possible. You should realize that your coach might not be available at the time of your arrival due to other obligations. However, the sooner you contact your coach about your arrival information, the greater the chance that you will be picked up. During the introduction days, your coach will guide you through the city, from one location to another, to attend all the ISN activities. He or she will be able to explain you about the way things work in Amsterdam and answer your questions during these days. Most of the time students and their coaches keep in touch throughout their stay.
